Lucky to have the chance to be included in the fourth Revolving Art Show this season at BallenIsles Country Club, I entered Rabbi Rich, the portrait I painted of my husband from a color photo taken of him the evening he officiated at the wedding of our son and daughter-in-law, and Argentine Tango, a celebration of the dancers I love to paint. The exhibit is up for viewing from February 3rd to March 9th.
I’ve had the privilege of exhibiting my work at the annual Art Expo at BallenIsles Country Club since 2006, where it’s always been a delight to see how many talented artists live and work in the community. After our clubhouse was razed and rebuilt in 2018-19, all interested parties met to form an Art Club, which includes both artists and members interested in art and boasts a membership of over 340 residents. For those interested in the arts, there are lectures, films and field trips designed to stimulate lively discussion and feed the soul. For the artists, there is now a schedule of open studio time for those who like to work on their own projects and appreciate the camaraderie and benefit of having other artists’ eyes on their work, as well as a variety of art classes offered with various professionals from late fall into spring. And…once again…there is an annual Art Show, with 67 artist members exhibiting their paintings, sculpture, photography and even needlepoint from January 14-19 in our beautiful clubhouse. It is a privilege to have an opportunity to show my work and a delight to admire the work of my fellow artists.
Seize the Day…Rose
I entered the LightSpaceTime Online Gallery’s 9th Annual All Women competition last month and was delighted to hear today that Seize the Day won Special Recognition in the Painting & Other Media Category for this exhibition of women artists. I was particularly pleased to win an award for a painting of a woman, by a woman, a gift for a woman who owns an event space that is run by women, giving it special meaning for me. All winning entries will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of January 2020 and will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives. 
Lion’s Mane
It was a delight to come home after a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with the family to find that I had won a Special Recognition Award for Lion’s Mane in the Light SpaceTime Online Gallery”s 9th Annual Nature Exhibition. 140 artists were recognized for outstanding art in the Painting and Other Media category, and I’m thrilled to be among them. The exhibition will be online at http://www.lightspacetime.art for the month of December.
The Lion’s Mane is the largest known species of jellyfish and the most gorgeous, its beauty belying its powerful stinger. I actually painted the bottom view, which looked like a flower to me and hid its signature orange and red tentacles. I continue to find painting somewhat transparent sea creatures like jellyfish and anemones a fascinating challenge.
On Saturday, November 2, the Ballenisles Art Club opened its first Revolving Art Exhibit outside the East dining room of the clubhouse. I have often said that I love color, so the Primary Colors Arts Competition on www.lightspacetime.art seemed made for me, where at least one or more of the primary colors (red, blue and/or yellow) stood out as a primary artistic element in the artwork submitted. Now I am delighted to have won a Special Merit Award for Fantasy and Special Recognition for Steeplechase. There were 741 entries in the competition from 24 different countries around the world and 35 different states and D.C., so it’s an honor to be included among the award winners.

I painted Fantasy using old black and white movie posters from the 1930’s & 40’s of Loretta Young as my reference for the woman. I called the painting Fantasy, hoping it was ambiguous enough that some would think she is his fantasy and others think he is hers.

I painted Steeplechase as a gift for my husband, who has great memories of his father taking him to George C. Tilyou’s Steeplechase Park in Coney Island to ride the mechanical ponies in a horserace, one of the highlights of his childhood.

Dancing With the Stars
I attended yet another lovely reception at the Lighthouse Artcenter in Tequesta, FL, on Thursday evening, March 21st, for the Best of the Clubs juried exhibition, which ran through March 28th. This was the largest exhibition of paintings, photographs and 3D art from more country club communities than they’ve ever displayed before, and I’m happy to have Dancing With the Stars included in such good company! Now that I’m a full time Florida resident, I look forward to joining the Lighthouse Artcenter as a member, giving me more opportunities to show my work at this impressive venue for artists.
I try to contribute to the BallenIsles Charitable Foundation for its good work for the Palm Beach Gardens community in some way every year. This year, I donated a painting to the Silent Auction at the close of a long weekend of sold out activities and had a lovely write up in the preview for the festivities.

Some say it was a pear Eve ate…, an unframed oil on canvas by Nancy Satin, measures 40” x 30.” But look closely and you will see a “Da Vinci Code” in the painting. Diva
Good news for the new year came from Light Space & Time Online Gallery today. I entered their 8th Annual All Women Art Exhibition, and Diva won a Special Recognition award for outstanding art in the Painting and Other Media category. The gallery received 909 entries from 24 countries from around the world, including 37 states in the U.S., so I am honored to be including among so many talented women.
You may or may not have noticed that I haven’t posted since October 18, a significant date for me and my husband, since that was the day we accepted an offer for our house in Swampscott. We only had two months to clean out and pack up the home we’ve had there for almost 45 years, so painting and posting had to take a back seat for a couple of months until we closed and moved to our condo in Florida. Recovering from the stress and labor involved in such a big move has been a challenge, but I’m just about ready to resume my life and get back to painting again. Look for a painting of my son and his son soon, as well as several black & white studies…
Rising Again
I subscribe to an arts organization called See.Me that specializes in providing online profiles for artists to display and promote their work and holds real-world exhibitions every few years. Last week, See.Me featured Rising Again in Volume 4 of Art Takes SoHo on their website, directing viewers to my website when they click on the image. It’s very gratifying to be included in a juried show with artists from all over the world.
Reach
How delightful to end a relaxing holiday weekend with the news that Reach won a Special Merit Award in the Painting and Other Media category of the LightSpaceTime Online Gallery Open Art Exhibition for September 2018! The gallery received 702 entries from 31 different countries from around the world, as well as from 39 different states, and I am honored to be included with 64 other artists in this category. Rising Again
The LightSpaceTime Online Gallery ran a Vacation Special Art Competition (no theme) this June, asking artists to submit five images of their best abstract or representational art to be considered for exhibition. The gallery received 1558 entries from 39 different countries around the world, 43 states and the District of Columbia. There were only five overall winners, drawn from Painting and Other Media, 3 Dimensional Art and Photography and Digital Media, so I was especially honored to find that Rising Again has won a Special Merit Award in Painting and Other Media.
